Gulf of St Lawrence

Though I had spent 17 years in Montreal, I had not been to the Gaspé Peninsula (or the Gaspesie to give it its correct name). Once again, we travelled across Quebec from Ottawa to Quebec City (where of course we stopped for a few days). Then it was around the lovely coast of the Gaspesie, into New Brunswick, and down the Acadian Coast, to the awesome Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island. We spent two weeks exploring the entire Island, and then took the ferry from Souris, PEI, to Iles de la Madeleine. As with Newfoundland, we fell in love with les Iles where we spent seven days. Les Iles are beautiful, and easy to explore in detail since the interconnected islands are only some 80km by 7km. Here there are beaches “to die for.” After les Iles it was a quick trip back to Quebec City for my 70th Birthday treat which was a night in the fabulous Chateau Frontenac.

This road trip included Gaspesie, Quebec, the Acadian coast of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Iles de la Madeleine (in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence).
