The Saint Lawrence River Whale Route

The “Whale Route” is on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River from Quebec City to Baie Comeau.
As with all our trips that take us anywhere near Quebec City, we always stay at least two days. It is the only walled city in North America, and one of our favourite cities. Along the Whale Route in summer you are almost guaranteed to see at least five species of whales. Various whale watching boat tours are available from the town of Tadoussac. We prefer the zodiac boat tour, for a more up-close-and-personal experience. Also, be sure to spend time in the charming French Canadian townships on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River both north and south of Quebec City and on Ile d’Orleans (an easy day trip from Quebec City).

Note: this was our first trip, in our newly acquired Roadtrek, during which we learned many lessons about touring in an RV. Later, after learning some more lessons, I wrote an article that was published on a Blog of the Family Motor Coach Association. I have included on my website under RV Touring Lessons Learned, since it will be helpful for any new RVers, or those of you who may be contemplating renting an RV for a Canadian adventure.
